Birth Doula Service

Doula (DOO-LA)

As your Doula I will be your advocate, your safe space and your friend

If you’ve found your way to this page, either you or someone close to you is expecting a baby! Congratulations! While this time of your life is incredibly exciting, I understand that it can also be incredibly daunting. Especially when it comes to birthing that precious baby. My role as your doula is to provide you, the birthing parent and partner, with the emotional support, knowledge and physical comfort in the lead up to and during your labour and the birth of your baby.

I am here to be your source of knowledge, your continual support and your advocate, ensuring that you and your baby are the priority on such a momentous day in all of your lives. While I do not carry out any of the medical duties of care surrounding your birth, I will be a continuous comfort and emotional care provider throughout the entire process. My mission is to highlight your choices surrounding your birth, offer education and become a beacon of calm for you throughout the later stages of pregnancy, your birth and beyond.

I work with all types of parents to be, planning a natural birth, c-section or VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean) Delivery, whether it be in your home, a hospital or a birthing centre, based in the Gladstone Region, QLD, Australia.

What I can offer you as your Birth Doula:

  • Free in person 30 minute “get to know you” session at a place comfortable for you

  • Welcome package containing educational resources on pregnancy, birth and beyond

  • 2 hour Prenatal Planning session at a place comfortable for you. We will go over your hopes for your birth and talk through your options (preferable if your birth partner can be included in this session). We’ll also discuss any fears you may have surrounding birth and any past experiences (if you have them). During this session we will create an informed birth plan so that you can feel totally prepared for your birth

  • Depending on your desired birth, we can arrange a birth support session where we will go through positions, breathing techniques and other methods of coping during birth

  • 24/7 message and call availability from your first planning session onward, for any questions or concerns

  • From 38 weeks onward I am on-call to attend your birth

  • I can meet you at your home for early labour (if you are birthing at a hospital) and walk with you, chat with you, massage you or simply encourage you until you are ready to leave for the hospital or birth centre

  • I will stay with you during labour until your baby is in your arms

  • I can explain hospital policies and medical terminology to ensure you feel well informed before making any choices

  • I will ensure your birth plan is followed

  • I will help you stay focused and ensure you and your birth partner are as comfortable as possible

  • Once your baby is born I will stay until you are confident with feeding and holding your baby

  • Once you return home, we will have a debrief session. We’ll discuss the birth and I can provide advice on breastfeeding and settling your baby.

What don't do as your Birth Doula:
